Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using ISBNFetch (https://isbnfetch.com) (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Wong Lung Tak Manson (operating as ISBNFetch) ("we", "us", or "our"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 years old if you are in the European Economic Area) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

3. What ISBNFetch Is (and Is Not)

3.1 What we provide

ISBNFetch is a personal book management platform. The Service allows you to:

• Look up book information by scanning or entering an ISBN
• Build and manage a personal digital book library
• Export your library data
• Optionally share book activity with the ISBNFetch community

3.2 What we are not

ISBNFetch is not a bookstore, a marketplace, or a resale platform. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any book data retrieved from third-party sources. Book prices and availability shown are informational only and may not reflect current market conditions.

4. Your Account

To access full features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering
• Keep your password confidential and not share it with others
• Notify us immediately at mansonwong0703@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Credits and Payments

5.1 Free tier

All accounts receive a limited number of free scans per day. Free-tier limits are set at our discretion and may change with reasonable notice.

5.2 Paid credits

You may purchase credit packages to unlock additional scans and features. Credits are subject to the following conditions:

• Credits are non-transferable and tied to your account
• Credits expire 12 months from the date of purchase
• Credits have no cash value and cannot be refunded once purchased, except where required by applicable law
• We reserve the right to adjust credit pricing with reasonable notice

5.3 Refunds

All purchases are final. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at mansonwong0703@gmail.com within 14 days of the transaction. EU consumers retain statutory rights to a 14-day cooling-off period for digital purchases where the service has not yet been used.

6. Your Content and Licence

6.1 Your content

You may add personal notes, ratings, tags, and other content to your library ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.

6.2 Licence grant to us

By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. We will not sell or licence your User Content to third parties.

6.3 Book metadata

Book metadata (titles, authors, ISBNs, descriptions, cover images) is factual bibliographic information sourced from public databases. We may aggregate and display this data to all users, including showing how many users have saved a particular book, without disclosing any individual user's identity.

6.4 Library privacy defaults

Your personal book library is private by default. You may choose to make your library or activity visible to other users through your account settings. You can revert to private at any time.

6.5 Community activity feed

The Service may include a real-time feed showing recent activity (e.g. "Peter C. just scanned a book in Hong Kong"). Your appearance in this feed is based on your display name and approximate location. You can opt out via your account settings at any time.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the Service or our APIs without authorisation
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service
• Use automated scripts to perform scans at a rate that exceeds normal human use
• Share your account credentials or credits with others
• Introduce malware, viruses, or other harmful code
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Interfere with the operation or availability of the Service

Violation of this section may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

8. Intellectual Property

The ISBNFetch name, logo, and all Service software, design, and technology are the property of Wong Lung Tak Manson (operating as ISBNFetch) or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, trade names, or branding without our prior written consent.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Book data retrieved will be accurate, complete, or current
• Any defects will be corrected

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Wong Lung Tak Manson (operating as ISBNFetch) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or HK$100 (whichever is greater).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Unused credits are forfeited upon account termination, except where required by law. Sections 6.2, 8, 9, 10, and 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email or a prominent notice in the Service at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service before the effective date.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong SAR.

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you may also be entitled to bring claims before the courts of your country of residence, and EU consumer protection laws may apply.
